Gulisek Construction has operated from Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania since its inception in 1965. Operating primarily in the Western Pennsylvania region, Gulisek is widely recognized in the heavy civil and highway construction industry, and as a member of the PJ Dick-Trumbull-Lindy Paving family of construction companies, was selected as one of Pittsburgh's \"Best Places to Work.\" We are seeking a Construction Foreman for Laborers.

Responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily work for various construction trade crews and coordinate all efforts with the supervisors on the project site.
  1. Reviews estimate and understand costs and production, and schedules before starting of a particular activity
  2. Utilizes proper size crew and equipment based on estimate to achieve cost effective productions
  3. Schedules materials in a timely fashion so as to not impact work activities
  4. Participates in weekly look-ahead schedule meetings and utilizes this schedule as a tool to effectively complete work
  5. Ensures quality of work meets all contractual specifications
  6. Understands budgets/costs as estimated and utilizes this knowledge to construct project
  7. Understands contract drawings and specifications and utilizes these tools to construct project
  8. Completes a work activity in its entirety prior to moving to another activity and keeps work area clean and orderly
  9. Recognizes and documents additional extra work and notifies supervisor
  10. Properly cares for and utilizes company-owned equipment including pick-up trucks and small tools
  11. Maintains/submits daily paperwork in an organized/timely fashion (i.e. timesheets, material tickets/truck tickets, force account information, daily diary, etc.)
  12. Works productively with other foreman and employees
  13. Analyzes work activities for potential safety concerns (ie. Fall protection, manlift, excavation support)
  14. Utilizes and instructs all crew members on proper use of safety equipment (ie. hard hats, lanyards, etc.)
  15. Embraces Company Safety Program and participates in company sponsored training
  16. Conducts effective weekly TOOL BOX TALKs
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience
Educational and experience requirements include: High School Diploma or Equivalent. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Foreman in the heavy/highway construction trades. Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction required (technology, equipment, methods, craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations, engineering, cost control, schedules, and safety). Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills essential.
